Bucket conveyors (elevators)
These conveyors are intended for vertical or inclined (angle from 300 to 900) moving of materials up to different heights. Chain or grizzly belt is used as traction body. Buckets are attached to a chain or a belt. Belt elevators are high-speed conveyors with centrifugal buckets unloading. They provide qualitative unloading even of the wet material. The disadvantage of this type of elevator is rather small bucket capacity and low-strength of the belt in the attaching point that often leads to spills in a loading place. Chain elevators are slow-speed conveyors, however they can be equipped with big buckets, but they can be unloading only in gravitation way. It prevents from moving of wet materials that can stick to the buckets’ walls. Bucket conveyors productivity can vary from 1.5 to 500 ton/h., at speed from 0,4 to 4 m/s. Bucket conveyors are commonly used in the food, chemical and coal industry. Also they are applied at cement and concrete plants, power stations and granaries. The advantages of bucket elevators are: reliability and durability since there is no friction between bucket walls and transport mine. Besides, during transportation the load does not fray and crumble. |
